Instruction to Author

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS/ GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

The International Journal of Biology Research: publishes original papers of high quality in all area of biological sciences, including Biochemistry, Botany (General Botany including Agricultural and Medicinal Botany), Cell Biology and Genetics, Microbiology (including Agricultural/ Clinical and Environmental Microbiology), Molecular Biology, Physiology, Toxicology and Zoology (including Entomology and Marine Biology). Review papers on important aspects are also welcome. Article accepted with understanding that it has not been previously published in any other form (except as academic thesis/ Research report submitted to funding agency/ abstract of paper in conference book) and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

International Journal of Biology Research is a bi-annual publication (June and December). All authors listed in the paper should meet basic authorship criteria and concur with the submission. They will be required to transfer the copyright to the publisher, when manuscript would be accepted for publication. All sources of funding for the study should be declared. All submitted manuscript under go for screening of similarity to eliminate chance of plagiarism and provide a high standard and quality peer-review process. Plagiarism policy adopted by the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, Pakistan will be followed. Manuscripts having more than 19% similarity from all published sources or more than 5% from a single source will be returned to authors without further processing.

Format of the Manuscripts:

The manuscript should be divided into following sections and each page should be numbered.

Title:

Should be concise, enable the reader to understand the main focus of the paper.

Authors and Affiliations:

Address of all authors should be provided including-email address. One author should be designated as corresponding author. Besides e-mail, his telephone number should be provided.

Abstract:

With a maximum of 250 words, explaining briefly the background of the research and results of the study.

Key Words:

Authors must provide up to six keywords below the abstract for indexing.

Introduction:

Includes literature review of the problem addressed in the manuscript, avoiding a detailed literature survey with emphasis on recent research in the field. Authors should clearly mention the gap in existing knowledge and aim of study.

Materials and Methods:

Describe how the study was performed. Briefly describe the techniques used in the study with appropriate citation to enable an independent researcher to reproduce the work. Chemicals used in the study should be mentioned with name of the manufacturer. Microbial cultures used should be deposited in authentic culture collection and their reference # should be provided. Similarly articles related to plant/insect/animal taxonomy require reference # of herbarium/museum etc.

Results:

Describe, what was found in the course of this investigation. It should be clear and concise statements of the results verified by the data provided in the tables/ figures.

Discussion:

Confront the results of the work to the state of the art, explore their significance and compare with available literature, but avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.

Conclusions:

Conclusion relative to the objectives of the study may be written separately or as a subsection within the Discussion section.

Acknowledgements:

All funding and facilities of the research received from others may be mentioned in this section.

Tables:

The tables should be numbered consecutively, and has a title.

Figures:

In the text figures should be referred as (Fig. 1), (Fig. 2) etc. Each figure should have self explanatory caption.

Structures:

The chemical structures must be prepared using Standard software (e.g., ChemDraw)

Abbreviations and Symbols:

Scientific abbreviation should be explain at its first occurrence and System International (SI) unit/symbols should be used.

References:

Reference cited in the text should be present in the reference list (and vice versa).
Citations in the text should be as under:
1. Single author: the author's name (without initials) and the year of publication (e.g., Linderman, 2000)
2. Two authors: both author's names & year of publication (e.g., Barnett & Hunter, 1998)
3. Three or more authors: first author's name followed by et al., and the year of publication (e.g., Rahman et al., 2016).
         More than one reference from the same author(s) in the same year must be identified by the letters 'a', 'b', 'c', etc., placed after the year of publication.

Reference to a journal publication:

Rahman, A., V. Sultana, J. Ara and S. Ehteshamul-Haque. 2016. Induction of systemic resistance in cotton by the neem cake and Pseudomonas aeruginosa under salinity stress and Macrophomina phaseolina infection. Pak. J. Bot., 48: 1681-1689.

Reference to a book:

Barnett, H.L. and B.B. Hunter. 1998. Illustrated Genera of Imperfect Fungi. 4th ed. The American Phytopathological Society. St. Paul. Minnesota, USA. pp. 218.

Reference to a chapter in an edited book:

Linderman, R.G. 2000. Role of mycorrhizae in biocontrol. Pp. 1-25. In: Mycorrhiza and plant growth. F.L. Pfleger and R.G. Linderman (eds.). The American Phytopathological Society, St. Paul. Minnesota. USA.

Reference to website:

WHO. 2017. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). http://www.who.int/ media centre/ factsheets/ fs317/en/
Journal names should be abbreviated according to the List of Title Word Abbreviations.

Ethical Issues:

Approval of research ethics committee of the institution will be required, when reporting studies that involve human participants. Ethical standards as laid down in the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments will be follow. International, national, and/or institutional guidelines for the care and use of animals should be follow:

Review Process and Publication:

All papers submitted for publication will immediately be subjected to editorial scrutiny, if found suitable for journal, then send to an independent referee preferably from technologically advanced country. If referee recommended/reject/ or suggest modification in the manuscript, it will be communicated to corresponding author. Galley proof of accepted papers will be send as MS-Word file. All published papers can be downloaded freely from website.

Page charges:

Up to 10 pages:
Rs. 2000/- per article for local faculty/scientists/ researchers
US $ 50/- for international
Extra pages will be charged @ Rs. 200 or $5 per page.
Printing cost of each color figure is US $10/- or Rs. 1000/-, whereas, there is no additional charges on soft copy.
